Second Time Around
Del Ray Artisans Gallery
https://delrayartisans.org/event/second-time/
Many physical items we choose to remove from our lives can be sold/given/donated to others rather than going into our world’s overburdened landfills. It takes a conscious choice to acquire items from others rather than purchasing new items at a retail store. It also takes a little effort to offer something no longer needed to others rather than just tossing it in the trash or recycle bin. The Second Time Around art exhibit at Del Ray Artisans gallery focuses on this thought-change concept of sustainable creativity and enhancing the artistic environmental ethos, from the featured artwork utilizing recycled materials to the special workshops and events held during the exhibit.

Waste and Wonder Opening Reception
The term "recycled art," describes the practice of producing art out of materials that have been rejected and considered waste. Recycled art is a moving combination of artistic expression and environmental responsibility in a world where people are becoming more aware of their environmental impact. It's a global movement that unites artists around the same objective of repurposing the trash of our society to create art and making potent statements of social change. Waste and Wonder will enhance commonplace items that are disregarded and emphasize their importance to the wellbeing of our planet.
This exhibit is on view in our Hal Gomer Gallery from November 11, 2024 - January 9, 2025.

DC Arts Center WallMountables
WallMountables Exhibition — The DC Arts Center
Work from 100 local artists.
Experience the inclusive spirit of WallMountables, one of Washington DC's largest open community exhibitions presented by The DC Arts Center (DCAC). Since its establishment in 1989, DCAC has been committed to fostering underrepresented artists, and WallMountables exemplifies this mission by providing a platform to celebrate and showcase the diverse and thriving creative community in the region.
During WallMountables, DCAC transforms its gallery walls into a dynamic floor-to-ceiling grid of 2-foot by 2-foot squares, serving as a unique canvas for artists to display their work. The result is a remarkable visual tapestry encompassing creations from children, students, self-taught artists, as well as emerging, mid, and late-career artists.
